16 pages. 9 x 6 inches.

A rare copy of the brochure for the opening "Championship" event, a 250 mile automobile race, run at the Los Angeles Motor Speedway in February, 1920.

Also known as the Beverly Hills Motor Speedway, this timber track with a 1.25 mile circuit was built in 1919 in what is now the heart of Beverly Hills.  While the brochure reads "February 21, 1920," the race was run on February 28, 1920.  Listed in the brochure are the drivers, with photograph head shots and bios, plus the vehicles they piloted.  Among them were Ralph De Palma, winner of the 1915 Indianapolis 500, who won about 2000 races in all; Russell "Cliff" Durant, son of William C. Durant, the founder of General Motors, a co-owner and president of the Beverly Hills Speedway; and James Murphy, American Racing Champion in 1922 and 1924, who won this race.

With pencil annotations inside about the positions of the leading vehicles.
