Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

  • Volume is quarter-bound in red cloth, and features red lettering with red illustration on front of brown covers.
  • Book displays mild overall aging and wear to covers, and is remarkably well preserved inside, with clear plates and text pages.
  • Covers exhibit gentle overall rubbing with some exposed boards at corners. 
  • Spine is mostly faded, and shows general softening with a 0.5" tear to head edge of both shoulders. Gilt is still bright on spine. (See photos)
  • Binding is secure throughout.
  • Title page has a 0.25" circular smudge at right foot corner. 
  • Frontispiece is well preserved, showing gentle toning, a little more pronounced than plates inside. (See photos)
  • Illustration plates are bright and clear throughout, with gentle overall toning, and intact tissue guards. (See photos)
  • First illustration plate inside shows some minor graphite smudges along fore edge, also visible on corresponding tissue guard. 
  • Interior is gently age-toned and overall remarkably well preserved, with few occasional marginal smudges and fingerprints.
  • Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks. 
  • Pages 290 to end show a recurring bump to foot corner, about 0.5". (See photos)
  • Text block edges display commensurate age-toning.
  • Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
