Product Description
Etoffes et Tapis Etrangers
by Maurice Pillard Verneuil [Ed]
for the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes
This exhibition, often shortened to Art Deco, required all entries to be strictly modern. In turn, the styles featured included examples of modernism, cubism, futurism, and exoticism. This historic event was a landmark for the Art Deco movement.
Maurice Pillard Verneuil (1869–1942) assembled this collection of textiles from the exhibition, and wrote the introductory booklet for this portfolio. Published for the World’s Fair held in Paris from April until October in 1925, the portfolio houses a wonderful collection of 75 loose plates representing fabrics and carpets from such countries as Belgium, Italy, Japan, Holland, Sweden, Switzerland, Russia and more. A five-page booklet features the intro which is followed by a listing of all the boards including type and origin of featured textiles. 10 X 13.25 inches.
