Armand Semple (1845-1895) compiled an exhaustive survey of medicinal healing materials, broken into the broader categories of Inorganic and Organic, then Vegetable Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, with numerous subclasses. Entries include information on the scientific, identification, tests and applications. A total of 440 line drawing illustrations accompany the listings. 480 pages. 5.5 x inches.

Hardback is overall in GOOD++ condition.

• Evergreen cloth over boards are quality vintage, with traditional 19th C rounded spine.
• Gilt on spine is clear, with intact text.
• Covers exhibit expected minimal wear for this vintage.
  • Rubbing along edges with small bits of exposed board.
  • Light scuffing and stains to buckram.
  • Lower corners are lightly bumped.
  • Shoulders are lightly rubbed.
  • Back shoulder has 2 tiny chips.
  • Spine ends are crushed, with scuffing and fraying.
  • Buckram is lifting from inside front cover, 1"+ from foot corner.
• Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
• Interior is gently aged, with light wear / use.
  
  • Printing is dark, clear, and easy to ready.
  • Pages are lightly tanned.
  • Some pages are bumped at corner.
  • Faint foxing / darker tanning in margins.
  • A few light water stains in margins.
• Binding is strong, with minimal play yet sturdy enough to gently use and read.
• Text block edges are moderately dusty with slight staining.
• Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
