Features thirteen chapters that cover brief information on the political state of Europe preceding the escape to America, biographical sketches, chronologies, sketches of the the Bonaparte estate and much more. Following the body of the text are two pages of advertisements for additional works by E.M. Woodward. 116 pages. 6" by 9.25".

Signed and inscribed by the author on the half-title page. Illustrations include a frontispiece of Napoleon Bonaparte and a landscape depicting a view of the Park and Bonaparte's first mansion.

Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD+ condition.

  • Green cloth covers with blind stamped borders and lettering. 
  • Boards are gently darkened, lightly scuffed and stained, most notably to the back, with very light edgewear to the bottom. 
  • Corners are bumped with exposed board. 
  • Spine has gilt lettering and exhibits mild rubbing and crushed ends with small portions of clothing missing. 
  • Binding is highly secure.
  • Brown endpapers exhibit minor wear along the perimeter while the rear pastedown exhibits a thin surface tear along the inner margin. 
  • Endpapers and feps are age-toned with foxing. 
  • Half title page is foxed and bears a shadow from the facing frontispice.
  • Plate is moderately foxed.
  • Interior is gently age-toned with light foxing and faint pencil scribbles to the lower area of page 88 otherwise the inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.
  • Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
