Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition, with a VERY GOOD DJ.

  • Textured silver covers are mostly clean, with embossed title.  Boards show some bumping at foot.  Corners are bumped.  See photos. 
  • Spine has bumped ends. 
  • Binding is strong. 
  • End papers/ pastedowns show little to no sign of age or wear.
  • Illustrations, black and white photographs, are bright and clear.  Some pages fold out.  
  • Interior exhibits marginal toning.  Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.

Exhibition catalogue from the posthumous exhibition mounted at the Fondation Cartier from March-May, 2001.  Alair Gomes (1921-1992) was a Brazilian philosopher, cultural critic and photographer.  In his photography Gomes explored the intersection of eroticism, art, and the pornographic as he turned his lens on the beaches of Ipanema.

With essays and an interview between Gomes and Joaquim Paiva.
