Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

  • Volume displays mild commensurate aging and wear, and is very well preserved inside.
  • Covers display moderate overall toning and mild darkening.
  • Back board shows a small purple spot, as well as a small scuff to fore edge. (See photos)
  • Upper corners are mildly bumped.
  • Spine features text and lines in barely faded gilt, and is sunned.
  • Binding is secure with some play.
  • B&W illustrations and maps inside are well preserved. Frontispiece and another portrait are protected behind intact tissue guards.
  • Endpapers are toned and lightly foxed.
  • Interior is gently age-toned and overall well preserved.
  • Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks. 
  • Textblock edges are toned and foxed. Foot edge has a 1.25" x 0.5" stain.
  • Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.

General John Stark (1728-1822) was an American military man who served in the British Army during the French and Indian wars. A native of New Hampshire, he then became a major general in the Continental Army, where he fought in the American Revolution. His exemplary service at the Battle of Bennington in 1777 earned him the nickname of "the Hero of Bennington". This is a biography of the great man, including all the details, anecdotes, and most important events that marked his distinguished life, from the opening to the closing of the Revolutionary War. Are included, the Battle of Bunker Hill, the Canada campaign, and much more, as well as the early and later years of his life.

Includes a preface, a table of contents and a bibliography of sources.
