It tells "the story of the de-population of [Foula] one of the isolated, outer islands of Scotland,as one by one, the younger generation leaves for the greater opportunities offered by the mainland, making it harder to follow the old ways of life there."(Wikipedia) Includes 32 B&W illustrations and photos as well as two maps. Actors include Finlay Currie, John Laurie, Niall MacGinness, 334 pages. 6.5 X 9.5 inches.

Hardback is overall in VERY GOOD condition.

  • Brown cloth boards feature gilt on front.
  • Binding is secure, with minimal play.
  • Corners are sharp.
  • Spine is sunned, with faded text.
  • Head and tail of spine are softened.
  • Covers exhibit light soiling and shefwear.
  • Front cover has 1/4" frayed scrape at center of top edge.
  • Dark shadow stains to pastedowns, lighter to endpapers.
  • Ffep has a little pencil
  • Red edging at top of text block shows some fading and a smudge near spine.
  • Fore edge of text block is deckled (from page cutting).
  • At foot of text block are two water stains near spine.
  • Interior is free of marginalia and intentional marks.
  • Pages are lightly age toned.
  • Book may exhibit additional minor signs of age or wear.
